Six Metre European Championship 2012

Introduction
In 2012 the Nynäshamn Yacht Club, NSS, together with the city of Nynäshamn, Sweden will celebrate the centennial of the 1912 Olympic Sailing Races.


This will be celebrated during a couple of weeks, starting the 20th of July 2012, filled with sailing races in several Olympic classes, other events and recreation ( see separate Jubilee Programme). The unique Swedish and European classic and modern sailing yachts, together with our beautiful archipelago give the competitors and spectators many unforgettable moments. Being one of the competing Olympic classes already in 1912, we are really excited to welcome the 6 Metre class back to our sailing waters again!

You will be cruising in the Swedish archipelago off Nynäshamn, Sweden. We have race courses for every type of weather and wind, including sheltered alternatives for high wind speeds.

Social and Supporters' Programme


We very much hope that competitors will encourage partners and friends to join them for the event. We plan to support them by laying on an interesting and fun shoreside programme as well as providing spectator boats for those wishing to watch the racing.
Five free tickets for each boat are included in the Race Entry Fee for the Regatta events listed below in bold. Subject to any space restrictions, additional tickets may be bought.
Nynäshamn have many attractions to offer. The provisional Supporters' Programme for those wishing to see something of the local area is shown below, each comprising a day out with lunch included. Light lunches and evening dinner will be available at the NSS Pavilion and Nynäs Havsbad throughout the Regatta, subject to prior booking.

Administration and Logistics
Organising Authority
Nynäshamn Yacht Club, NSS will be responsible for the organisation of the regatta.

The Swedish Six Metre Organisation (http://www.6mr.se/6mR.html) is acting as overall co-ordinator of the event.
Berthing & Support

Nynäshamn Yacht Club, NSS , located only five minutes by land or sea from the main harbour, will be the base for participating yachts. It is fully serviced for boats and crew, with technical support services and sail repair services available in and around the marina. Information will be provided for competitors on other services available in the local area. Trailer parking will be available at the club wharf.
Shore Base


The NSS Club Pavilion, together with the adjoining Nynäs Havsbad Spa & Hotel, will be the home base for the regatta. The Club Pavilion and the hotel, with bars, changing rooms and showers, full catering facilities , SPA Pavilion and terraces with magnificent views over the Baltic Sea, provides an ideal place for people to meet during and after racing. A bar and food will be available at the Club Pavilion throughout the Championship and competitors will be offered Regatta Guest status. Access also applies to the Nynäs Havsbad Spa Hotel. The Spa Pavilion (pictured right), adjacent to the hotel, will be the base for committee boats, and will also be available with prior booking for tenders to competing yachts. The NSS has a small fleet of launches and a strong team of boatmen who will play an active part in supporting the event.
Accommodation
Nynäshamn has enough hotel accommodation capacity. There are plenty of alternatives, but be aware that there are parallell races and events during the Jubilee Regatta and hotels are expected to be fully booked. Boat Transport
Boats may be unloaded at the NSS Wharf, where lifting and loading will be provided during the whole race period. Time booking is advised. Place on land is reserved for one trailer and transport vehicle per yacht. Details of alternatives will be available nearer the event.
Notice of Race, Sailing Instructions and Web Registration
Notice of Race will be published here approximately six (6) months before the championship, together with Web Registration.
Sailing Instructions will be published a couple of weeks before the championship.
